Schiele, Egon

Schiele, Egon
(6/12/1890 Tulin-10/31/1918 Vienna) (Austria)
Painter and draftsman. Studied at the Viennese Art Academy. An Expressionist who scandalized his times by his association with runaway teenage girls who were models for his erotic works. He was arrested and put on trial, but was ultimately acquitted. Died in the flu epidemic of 1918, some say his health was broken during the time he was held by the authorities, so he may be considered a martyr for erotic art.
